Irbid Chamber of Industry and Yarmouk University’s Center for Sustainable Development Studies Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

The Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) explored avenues for strengthening joint cooperation with the Center for Sustainable Development Studies at Yarmouk University during an official visit. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the ICI, Mr. Hani Abu Hassan, accompanied by the Director General, Mr. Nidal al-Sadr, and a team of chamber officials.

They were received by Professor Mohammad Turki Bani Salameh, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Studies. The ICI delegation included Ms. Haneen Shawaheen (Training and Development Manager), Mr. Osama Al-Mansi (Vocational Training Coordinator), and Ms. Hala Al-Saheb (International Projects Manager), alongside Mr. Tayseer Al-Saeed from the Cologne Chamber of Skilled Crafts, representing the German-Jordanian partnership project for vocational training.

During the meeting, Mr. Hani Abu Hassan emphasized that sustainable development is a fundamental pillar for upgrading the industrial sector. He stressed the importance of partnering with national academic institutions to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and practical application, particularly in energy efficiency, resource management, and reducing environmental impact.

Dr. Mohammad Turki Bani Salameh welcomed the visit, expressing the Center's readiness to provide research expertise to analyze labor market needs and factory requirements. He proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize collaboration in training, capacity building, and enabling factories to adopt sustainable practices like industrial waste management.

Mr. Nidal al-Sadr, Director General of the ICI, noted that this collaboration aligns with the Chamber’s vision to modernize services for industrialists by building effective partnerships with research centers, ensuring that training projects meet the actual needs of the manufacturing sector.
